More volcanoes, underwater volcanoes, earthquakes, methane burps, natural and man-made weather disasters, mini-ice age for 2011

Will 2011 be a repeat of 2010 ? extreme weather wise? Climatic extremes? Drought and floods in the same year?
I was right about my prediction last year in January 2010**,  that  earthquakes (in Haiti), volcanoes (in Iceland) and methane burps (which caused the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico) would be the chief newsmakers of 2010.
**See Predicting or triggering earthquakes, volcanoes and other natural disasters  and  January 2010 --an active month for natural disasters-volcanoes, earthquakes, methane burps  and Haiti, HAARP and High Frequency (1-30 MHz) and Very High Frequency Energy (100-200 MHz) emissions)
It's been a strange start to 2011-extreme weather wise.
Now, we are seeing 100 year floods that are ravaging many countries from Australia to Pakistan. Decade long droughts have plagued countries from Australia to China and Russia. Last week we saw record snowfall  in Australia in mid summer as well as India. Precipitation will increase dramatically-eithe rain or snow-which will lead to food shortages.
Record winter-time cold spells have engulfed the UK and Europe and it's snowing in all 49 US states this week. Massive dead bird and dead fish episodes have been reported for the past two weeks around the globe, possibly due to extreme cold water and to changes in global magnetic fields-magnetic excurssions and reversals  (ie pelicans migrated north to Siberia instead of Africa). The earth has lost 2/3 of its magnetic field strength in the past 2000 yeras and it may affect our health or lack of in general.
Glaciers growing in Spain (Pyrinees) 10 Jan 10 - For the first time in 10 years, el glaciar del Infierno (the glacier of Hell) in the Tena Valley has advanced. The mainstream media seems to have missed this. An honest mistake, I'm sure.
See Glaciers growing in Spain (Pyrinees)
How fast could an ice age advance?
In one day and one storm. In the last ice age 11,000 years ago, Siberian wooly mamoths were flash frozen in record snow storms. (The wool coat didn't help) Now they are thawing,  with food still in their mouths and in their stomachs.
Above land volcanism
In the last several days, three well known historic volcanos (Etna. Katla  and Krakatau ) have simultaneously increased in activity, similar to the last mini ice age in the 1600's

Mount Etna in Sicily is erupting again! It's Europe's most active volcano
The eruption is being described as one of the more "spectacular" eruptions in recent years, says Villino, a professional journalist in Palermo, Sicily.
Google Translate was used to translate Villino's website ( www.giovannivillino.it/).
Observations of the volcano in recent days had alerted engineers and scientists of the possible leakage of gas and lava.
This is being monitored by the Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) in Catania. You can see webcam images on the INGV website.
Images from Reggio Calabria show the magnitude of this eruption, which in some shots looks very close to the town.
According to INGV, on the evening of 12 January, Strombolian activity at the pit crater continues, with the amplitude of volcanic tremors increasing. Shortly after 21:00 an overflow started from the edge of the east pit crater moving in the direction of the western wall of Valle del Bove. It is also possible that the emission of volcanic ash may occur.

Krakatau Volcano, Indonesia
Eruptions from Krakatau volcano, Indonesia have forced the evacuation of tens of thousands residents. Seven districts affected are Kalianda, Rajabasa, Katibung, Sidomulyo, Ketapang, Sragi and Palas. On Monday ash from Anak Krakatau continued to cover residential areas in parts of Banten province and South Lampung. Visual observations showed ash emissions reaching a height of 600 m and drifting east. Ashfall has affected the operation of seismometers on the volcano. Fisherman and tourists are advised to stay at least 2 km from the volcano.

Katla Volcane, Iceland
The Katla volcano in Iceland is rumbling again too   Each time an eruption of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano occurs, it’s bigger  neighbor, Katla, has erupted shortly afterward. Eyjafjallajokull and Katla are separated by 27 km (17 mi) and are thought to have interconnecting magma channels. Eyjafjallajokull erupted on April 14, 2010. Katla (named after an Icelandic witch) is known to have erupted 16 times since 930, the last time during 1918. Since then, Katla has been quiet for the longest duration on record. It is overdue.
Signals to watch for
Forget about CO2-it's minor. Temperature drives CO2 and not the other way around. Any grade 10 science student will confirm this. Climate records show that climate temperature changes before CO2 goes up. BTW CO2 is heavier then air, so it should sink. Carbon dioxide is not the enemy, it's not a pollutant -- plants love it- see commercial green house use. Its less then 4 % of all the greenhouse gases. Moisture is far more important.
N.B. Morris Strong said 30 years ago that the problem for the planet are the industrialised nations and we need to deindustrialize and since the IPCC only focus is on so-called man-made forcings to climate and not natural forcings, then that's why IPCC focuses so much attention on man-made CO2 and how to make money on it by swapping or trading it or rationing energy use in the future. It will be called forced austerity with a smart grid..you can only use the dish washer once a week.
Watch for sun earth orbit changes, tilt and precession of the equinox or the *Milankowich" cycle, growing inland glaciers in Canada and USA, thickening arctic and antarctic ice,  underwater geothermal volcano activity (80% of volcanoes are under water in mid oceanic ridges, estimated at 3,000,000), which controls the weather (ie jet streams) and increased HAARP activity (See Predicting or triggering earthquakes, volcanoes and other natural disasters   and  Haiti, HAARP and High Frequency (1-30 MHz) and Very High Frequency Energy (100-200 MHz) emissions ).
N.B. Increased above-water volcano activity  cools  the atmosphere with particiulates that reflect sunlight and heat, while underwater volcanoes heat ocean water adding moisture to a cooling atmosphere, triggering a mini or prolonged ice age.
Ash clouds and sulfur dioxide and sulfate aerasols,( which  reflect the sun and heat back away from the earth), from a  massive eruption from either Katla. Etna or Krakatau could trigger a new mini global  ice age. which have historically and prehistorically have transitioned (or flipped from a warming period to an ice age) in as little as 3 to 20 years.
Remember that there is a 360 year mini ice age cycle, (that corresponds to every collapse of civilization in history due to a food supply collapse ) a 60 year sun cycle and a 22 year sun spot cycle. People will tolerate bad government but not a lack of food supply. Mormons suggest that they have a one year food supply at home-not a bad idea.

Erratic Sunspots Smash NOAA Predictionslink

solar-cycle-24-low-sunspot-number-behind-schedule

The current solar cycle (solar cycle 24) has confounded many observers, perhaps even the NOAA Solar Cycle Prediction Panel who had come to a consensus that the solar cycle presently underway would peak sometime during early 2013.
In fact, the current prediction model for this month of January, 2011, has it packed with between 50 and 55 new sunspots. The problem is… where are all the sunspots?

During early 2010 and again during mid 2010, it appeared as though the sunspot activity was rapidly increasing, even to the point of catching up with the current NOAA prediction model. During the last 4 months however, the sunspot activity has dramatically diminished.
Records indicate that only 14 sunspots (plus or minus depending on the chosen database) appeared during December 2010, while January 2011 has only produced 9 sunspots as of this writing (more than half way through the month), only 16 percent of expected!
If the current trend continues, we may be in store for some cold weather in our future. Many scientists agree that a decrease in sunspot activity will translate to cooler weather here on earth.
There is a lag effect with the cause-and-effect of low sunspot numbers and cool weather. That affect, coupled with the current ‘La Nina’ underway in the equatorial Pacific ocean, could be signaling a very cool Spring and Summer of 2011.

Time will tell of course, but if this becomes reality, it could badly affect the already dangerous situation of the current world food supply disruption from recent weather-related damaged crops (Russia, Australia, Brazil, Pakistan…).
This weather related food crop damage coupled with the specter of higher inflation, all point towards much higher food prices in our future.

Nightmare in the Philippines- The rain that won’t go away- 51 dead

January 18, 2011 - MANILA: The death toll from floods and landslides caused by more than three weeks of heavy monsoon rains in wide areas of the Philippines climbed to 51, a disaster control official (DCO) reported on Monday. In addition, retired military general Benito Ramos, the head of the National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), said 11 fishermen from the island province of Catanduanes province in the Bicol Region in Luzon have remained missing. Ramos said the four new fatalities were drowning victims from Negros island in the Visayas which also reported heavy damage on farms, private properties and government infrastructure due to the rains. According to Ramos, the 11 fishermen sailed out to sea from the town of Pandan in Catanduanes on Saturday when the weather cleared. But once out at sea, the weather suddenly worsened and apparently prevented the fishermen from going back to shore, he said. “We warned them of the bad weather but they still persisted because their families would starve if they did not set out to sea,” Ramos said. More than three weeks of heavy torrential rains that started on Dec.23 have caused massive floods and landslides in many areas of the Philippine archipelago, particularly Visayas and Mindanao, that displaced more than 1.4 million people, Ramos also reported. Among the 10 affected regions, he said, Caraga Region in Mindanao accounted for more than 601,000 people, followed by the Visayas with close to 400,000 and Bicol with 223,000.  -Gulf Today

China gyrates between extremes- drought and snow

January 18, 2011 - BEIJING (Reuters)“Around 2.2 million people are facing a shortage of drinking water due to a severe drought in parts of central, southern and eastern China, with some cities starting to run low on supplies, state media said on Monday. Rainfall is down by between 20 to 90 percent compared with the same period last year in the provinces of Henan, Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui and Shaanxi, the official Xinhua news agency quoted a government official as saying. Some of the areas affected are major growing regions for winter wheat, the report added. “Relentless droughts that started to dry out winter wheat producing areas such as Shandong and Henan provinces in November continue, affecting some 4 million hectares of cropland,” it cited Chen Lei, deputy head of drought relief efforts, as saying. “Water supply is running low in cities around the Yellow, Huaihe and Haihe rivers in northern and central parts of China,” Chen added, calling for more work to be put into relief efforts. “Governments at all levels should fully recognize the challenge and ramp up drought-relief efforts,” he said. Drought has affected winter wheat crops in 17 percent of China’s wheat growing areas in the country’s northern bread basket, and dry weather is forecast to extend until spring next year, the government said last month. Meanwhile, other parts of the country have been hit by freezing rain and heavy snow.” -Reuters

Wind, waves, quakes rock Indonesia

January 18, 2011 - Jakarta - Although Tropical Cyclone Vince has lost much of its strength, strong swells are still expected off Java’s southern coast and across the eastern islands, state weather forecasters have said. Despite the storm weakening to below cyclone intensity, some places in East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara could experience strong windstorms for months to come. “The extreme weather is expected to last until April, although the daily situation will fluctuate,” Kukuh Ribudianto, from the National Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), said on Sunday. The extreme weather has already caused significant damage in parts of East Nusa Tenggara, with heavy rains and strong winds lashing the province for the past two weeks. Kukuh said heavy rains and high waves were also expected across Maluku and Papua’s southern districts as a result of a wind convergence over the Banda Sea. Hary Tirto Djatmiko, the BMKG’s chief of meteorological information, said rain intensity during the next week was expected to be medium to high in the central and eastern parts of the archipelago. “There will be some lightning and storms as well, with daily wind gusts of 10 to 36 kilometers per hour,” he added. Tidal surges on the East Nusa Tenggara island of Flores reached as far as 100 meters inland on Wednesday, sweeping away at least 18 houses in Nangahale village, Sikka district. No injuries were reported and affected villagers have been evacuated to emergency camps set up by the provincial Disaster Management Office (BPBD). Officials from Belu district and Kupang in West Timor reported dozens of houses damaged on Sunday, with the number expected to rise.” A 5.8 earthquake also struck the isle of southern Sumatra earlier today. There were no immediate reports of damage.  -Jakarta Globe
