"By Saturday, pretty much all the melons we had planted had root rotted and died in spots," Lively said. "We just had big rows of dead melons."

May 30 | Coldest May on record for E. Idaho - Through Sunday, three all-time record lows had been set in Pocatello this month. The low on May 5 was 21, tying the all-time low for that day. On May 7, it was also 21, four degrees below the previous record of 25. Another low of 30 was set May 22, two degrees below the prior record.
The average temperature so far this May has been 48.1 degrees, a full 5 degrees below normal. Unless Sunday's and Monday's temperatures bump that up significantly, this May could go down as Pocatello’s coldest ever. The coldest May ever recorded in the Gate City was in 1953, when the month’s average temperature was 48.8 degrees.
