snow next week

Snow may be on its way as early as next week

Enjoy the sun while it lasts – frost and snow may well be heading this way next week. link

A scene that could be upon us next week? A scene that could be upon us next week?
The final days of summer warmth will be replaced by winter weather arriving three months early, say forecasters.
The south enjoyed 21C (70F) sunshine at the weekend, with people heading for parks and the seaside.
Hundreds of thousands enjoyed the Mayor’s Thames Festival in London and 50,000 attended the Bestival music festival on the Isle of Wight.
This week will see sunshine pushing temperatures up to 20C (68F) in the south and 18C (64F) in the north, although showers will provide a dose of autumn reality.
But people have been warned to dig out their coats and gloves for winter’s first frosts and cold spells within days. One forecaster predicted snow in the north and Scotland.
‘It’s rare for snow to fall this early but we’re seeing the mirror image of the late winter snow we had in May with early snow in September,’ said Jonathan Powell, senior forecaster at Positive Weather Solutions.
‘Weather patterns are similar to September 20, 1919, which brought an amazing cold snap with snow on low ground in northern England and high ground in southern and central parts,’ said Brian Gaze at The Weather Outlook.
‘It’s remarkable to have possible snow so early in the autumn but this is looking increasingly realistic.’
