  • Britain Colder Than Antarctica - Deepest Snowfall in 100 Years
3 Dec 10 - UK food shelves empty and petrol running out as icy roads make deliveries impossible. Some areas have seen the heaviest snow in more than 50 years.

The weather station in Sheffield recorded 15in of lying snow on Wednesday – the deepest since snowfall statistics began in 1954. Anecdotal reports suggest this was the heaviest snowfall in the area for 100 years.
Yesterday the highest measured snowfall in the country was in Northumberland, with depths of between 30in and 39in on high ground.

The Paris airport authority says flights in and out of Paris' main airport are suspended until around 5 p.m. local time Wednesday (1600 GMT).

Snow quickly turned into a slushy mess in Paris' streets, stalling traffic. Paris' RATP transport network says all buses in the capital have stopped running, as have many suburban buses. Heavy snowfall is unusual in Paris. Some shop owners are busy sweeping slush off the sidewalks, while Parisians and tourists alike are cautiously braving the slippery roads.

Meanwhile, Transport Secretary Phillip Hammond has called on people to help neighbours by clearing icy side roads.

After the Army was asked to clear snow from Edinburgh's streets, David Cameron said the military "stands ready".
Severe weather warnings for heavy snow remain in place for the far north of Scotland, with icy road alerts affecting all Scottish regions, Northern Ireland, the East Midlands, Yorkshire and the Humber.

Environment Canada says some areas of London saw up to 80 centimetres of snow on Monday. Another 20 or 30 centimetres was projected to fall Tuesday. Yet another 10 centimetres is expected Wednesday. In comparison, London only received a total of 108 centimetres of snow between December 2009 and March 2010. London's single day record snowfall was 57 centimetres, set on this day in 1977.

^Panama Canal shut by heavy rains ~ link ~ We are beginning to see more global effects, just as we did last summer (Northern Hemisphere), from the death of a key part of the Thermohaline Circulation System (the Loop Current in the Gulf of Mexico) due to the BP Oil Disaster and the use of millions of gallons of dispersants to sink and hide the oil.  Parts of South America are also having flooding, as well as Central America.  Stirling
Panama Canal (Camilo Montanes, STRI) The Panama Canal is fed by rain that falls in the surrounding hills
The canal authority said the rains had pushed water levels in lakes that form part of the canal to historic highs, potentially endangering shipping.

It is the first time the canal has had to close since the US invasion of Panama in 1989.

SURVIVING IN THE AFTERMATH - ADVICE TO GET YOUR PREPARATIONS STARTED

SURVIVING IN THE AFTERMATH - ADVICE TO GET YOUR PREPARATIONS STARTED

Words cannot convey the gravity of the situation that waits should you survive the Pole Shift. It is easy to say “complete devastation” but when you think about it, can you really fathom what that means? For the majority, we would suspect not. Even the best description that we could provide you with will not prepare you for the immense shock you will experience.

The purpose of this post is to get you to think about survival in the aftermath. The information here is the bare minimum essentials that you need to consider and we hope this will provide some direction towards your own preparation research.

Should you survive the primary Pole Shift event, your goal must be to move away from currently established cities and towns into the most remote area you can find. Other like-minded families/individuals will do the same and it is with these people that you should form small survival groups. 2 long to place all on here link
