Japan’s nightmare: 823 quakes after 9.0 and still shaking

A 6.3 earthquake has struck off the east coast of Japan at the depth of 18.2 km. The number of quakes that have followed the March 11, 2011 Tōhoku 9.0 earthquake and tsunami now number about 823 and counting. The natural disasters have shattered Japan’s nuclear ambitions and put the country in peril of potential multiple meltdowns of the nuclear reactor facilities which facing over-heating issues.

Hundreds of dead fish wash up on Alabama beaches

March 29, 2011ALABAMA — Months after the hundreds of birds fell dead from the sky and after thousands of dead fish, crabs, sardines, dolphins, and whales washed ashore worldwide, more dead fish washed ashore in Alabama, and a dead whale washed ashore in Virginia. There’s still no cause for the hundreds of dead fish that were found dead along the gulf shores over the weekend. They were also found along the gulf state pier Saturday morning. Park officials said it was unusual to see spade fish in that area this early in the year. The dead sigh spanned about three miles of shoreline. The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will take the fish in for testing. In Sandbridge, VA, the carcass of a Sei whale was found Sunday morning. The whale measured 35 to 40 feet long. Staffers from the Virginia Beach Aquarium were called to the site so that it could be secured and would not wash back into the ocean. The aquarium is planning to perform a necropsy on the dead animal to determine a cause of death. Sei whales are not common to the Virginia Beach area.  –KTSM

Burma shaken by back-to-back natural disasters- thousands now feared dead

March 29, 2011BURMA (Myanmar) – Of the 7,000 fishermen that were swept into the Andaman Sea during a tropical storm on March 14-16, a total of 3,374 have now been rescued, according to a source close to the Myanmar Marine Fishing Association (MMFA). The remaining 3,700 are still missing. Nearly two weeks since 400 fishing vessels were overturned or destroyed in 70mph winds, little hope remains of anyone else surviving. “There are currently about 400 fishing vessels at sea trying to rescue survivors of the storm,” said the source. “So far, more than 3,700 fishermen have been rescued and brought to Rangoon.” Burma’s state media reported on March 22 that naval ships, large fishing vessels and local fishing boats had jointly rescued 3,374 fishermen. While 3,152 have already gone home, 222 fishermen remain under government care, the report said, adding that the rescued fishermen had been provided medicine, clothes and food. The tropical storm occurred off the Irrawaddy delta coast close to areas such as Bogalay and Laputta which were severely hit by Cyclone Nargis in May 2008. “We already listed 7,000 people as missing at sea along with their vessels,” said an official from the Botahtaung Thanlyin naval compound. “But that figure does not include those people living in littoral areas. So the number of dead may be higher.” He and other navy officers confirmed that more than 200 bodies had already been recovered from the sea. “The majority of boats that were overturned were carrying local fishermen,” said the MMFA source. “Fishing vessels from Rangoon are generally larger, stronger and better equipped to resist the storm.” Naval sources have estimated that the majority of missing fishermen are from Irrawaddy Division and Mon State.  -Irrawaddy.org
Meanwhile the death toll from the March 24, 2011 6.8 earthquake has risen to 150 but sources say the government may be hiding the actual number of fatalities from the Western press so the true account of the devastation from the quake may never be fully known.

World’s oceans threatened by growing danger of volcanic explosions

March 29, 2011TONGA – Between 75 and 80 per cent of all volcanic activity on Earth takes place at deep-sea, mid-ocean ridges. Most of these volcanoes produce effusive lava flows rather than explosive eruptions, both because the levels of magmatic gas (which fuel the explosions and are made up of a variety of components, including, most importantly CO2) tend to be low, and because the volcanoes are under a lot of pressure from the surrounding water. Over about the last 10 years however, geologists have nevertheless speculated, based on the presence of volcanic ash in certain sites, that explosive eruptions can also occur in deep-sea volcanoes. But no one has been able to prove it until now. By using an ion microprobe, Christoph Helo, a PhD student in McGill’s Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, has now discovered very high concentrations of CO2 in droplets of magma trapped within crystals recovered from volcanic ash deposits on Axial Volcano on the Juan de Fuca Ridge, off the coast of Oregon. These entrapped droplets represent the state of the magma prior to eruption. As a result, Helo and fellow researchers from McGill, the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, have been able to prove that explosive eruptions can indeed occur in deep-sea volcanoes. Their work also shows that the release of CO2 from the deeper mantle to the Earth’s atmosphere, at least in certain parts of mid-ocean ridges, is much higher than had previously been imagined. Given that mid-ocean ridges constitute the largest volcanic system on Earth; this discovery has important implications for the global carbon cycle which have yet to be explored. –Eureka Alert
Once again, we reached this conclusion ahead of the science reports: “Since the oceans have always absorbed carbon dioxide even before the Industrial Revolution began; something else must be a triggering mechanism for excess C02 levels in the world’s oceans. Submarine volcanoes are likely the over-looked culprit.” –The Extinction Protocol, page 204

Final events unfolding in the Middle East that will soon lead to war

March 28, 2011TEHRAN – New evidence has emerged that the Iranian government sees the current unrest in the Middle East as a signal that the Mahdi–or Islamic messiah–is about to appear. CBN News has obtained a never-before-seen video produced by the Iranian regime that says all the signs are moving into place — and that Iran will soon help usher in the end times. While the revolutionary movements gripping the Middle East have created uncertainty throughout the region, the video shows that the Iranian regime believes the chaos is divine proof that their ultimate victory is at hand. The propaganda footage has reportedly been approved at the highest levels of the Iranian government. It’s called The Coming is Near and it describes current events in the Middle East as a prelude to the arrival of the mythical twelfth Imam or Mahdi — the messiah figure who Islamic scriptures say will lead the armies of Islam to victory over all non-Muslims in the last days. “This video has been produced by a group called the Conductors of the Coming, in connection with the Basiji — the Iranian paramilitary force, and in collaboration with the Iranian president’s office,” said Reza Kahlil, a former member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards who shared the video with CBN News. Kahlili, author of the book, A Time to Betray, worked as a double agent for the CIA inside the Iranian regime. “Just a few weeks ago, Ahmadenijad’s office screened this movie with much excitement for the clerics,” Kahlili told CBN News. “The target audience is Muslims in the Middle East and around the world.” –CBN News
When we first reported this nearly a month ago, it was met with disbelief and disagreement by some but once again we’ve proven that we’re not just reporting today’s news headlines- we’re ahead of them. Solar activity shifting into over-drive: Is something accelerating the solar cycle?

March 28, 2011 – The Sun seems to be entering a new phase of dynamism.” Radio emissions like these are caused by plasma instabilities in the sun’s atmosphere above sunspots. With the sun becoming ‘radio-active,’ it’s no coincidence that sunspots are emerging in abundance. Leading the way is behemoth active region AR1176, shown here in a photo taken yesterday by Larry Alvarez of Flower Mound, Texas: AR1176, the multi-cored ensemble at the bottom of the image, is dragging a pair of long magnetic filaments behind as it cuts across the solar disk. Two more sunspots are visible in the active region’s wake. The entire star-scape spans more than 500,000 km from top to bottom–truly impressive. “I call this picture Solar Rip,” says Alvarez, “because it looks like a rip in the stellar surface.” –Space Weather

The Sun’s behavior is definitely becoming more dynamic, almost ahead of schedule as though something is exciting solar behavior. Mid-latitude coronal holes and the break-out of sunspots, increased flaring, are all indications the cycle is racing toward a maximum which is supposed to occur sometime between 2012-2013. Below a chart which shows the inundation of cosmic rays peaks when solar activity wanes- leading us to the hypothesis that our solar system is being bombarded by perhaps energetic particles from supernovae remnants or from some other unknown gamma-ray source.  -The Extinction Protocol

Shallow 6.1 quake strikes off the coast of Japan

March 28, 2011 - JAPAN – A magnitude-6.1 earthquake shook eastern Japan off the quake-ravaged coast on Monday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported, prompting Japan to issue a tsunami alert. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, but the Japan Meteorological Agency announced that a tsunami of up to 1.6 feet (a half meter) may wash into Miyagi Prefecture. The tsunami alert was localized to Japan. The U.S. Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said no wave was expected in Hawaii or on the U.S. west coast. The alert was prompted by a quake that the U.S. Geological Survey measured at 7:23 a.m. Monday Japan time (2223 GMT Sunday) near the east coast of Honshu. The USGS said the quake was 17 kilometers deep. A magnitude-9 quake off Japan’s northeast coast on March 11 triggered a tsunami that barreled onshore, triggering a humanitarian disaster that is thought to have killed about 18,000 people. -AP

Greece hammered by seismic tremors- 12 in 14 hours

March 27, 2011ATHENS - The quakes almost form an elaborate circle around the southern parameter of Greece, where fault indentions in the sea are notable. It is well known that the Aegean and surrounding area, which includes mainland Greece, the Aegean Sea, Albania, S. Yugoslavia, S. Bulgaria, W. Turkey and part of the Northern Eastern Mediterranean, is seismically the most active region in the whole Mediterranean and in the whole of West Eurasia. This region is a part of the collision zone between the Eurasian and the African lithospheric plates but its present tectonic activity is much higher than in other regions of the same zone. The Mediterranean ridge is a submarine crustal swell that extends from the Ionian Sea to Cyprus and parallels the Hellenic trench. The Hellenic trench consists of a series of depressions with depth to about 5km. It parallels the Hellenic arc and includes some linear trenches, as are the Pliny and Strabo southeast of Crete and the Ionian trench. The Santorini volcano is quiet but still alive and well and may be biding its time. -The Extinction Protocol

Landslides render roads impassable in Colombia

March 27, 2011COLOMBIA – Sonia Gonzalez, regional director of the National Roads Institute (Invías), El Tiempo revealed that although progress is being made in the removal of slides from two sides work in Rionegro and El Playon (Santander) the operators have failed to clear the road of all the material carried by streams and river Playonero. Heavy rains have caused the deaths of 4 people, the injury of 12, and the disappearance of three others. In addition, the upheaval has caused the destruction of ten cars and 12 homes. In 4 districts of Rionegro, 150 homes were evacuated. Cracks appear in the roads leading to Barrancabermeja. The Barrancabermeja highway situation is as critical. Nearly 1,500 meters in the asphalt road has prominent cracks and is completely destabilized under ground-like. Water filtration and the action of a fault line has contributed to the collapse of the asphalt spanning a distance of 36 kilometers in the sector known as La Leona, near La Renta. “We have two helicopters hovering overhead and a commission of experts is evaluating the site to decide what to do,” said Sonia Gonzalez, winters. The two affected routes are the main choices of land transportation between Bucaramanga and Barrancabermeja. Other roads are similarly affected in Santander. -El Tiempo

Giant algae bloom appears in the English Channel

March 27, 2011 - LONDON – An enormous algae bloom 50 miles long has been discovered in the English Channel. The swarm of Skeletonema has come to the surface between the Lizard in Cornwall and Salcombe in Devon because of the warm weather. Scientists at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) discovered the bloom and another off the south east coast of Ireland using satellite images. They say that it poses no threat to humans and has appeared earlier in the year than usual thanks to the mild temperatures of the last few weeks. It would be visible from boats as a green/brown layer on the surface of the water. Dr Peter Miller, PML’s Earth observation scientist, said: ‘Skeletonema is a beautiful microscopic plant that given the right conditions reproduces rapidly to cover large areas of coastal seas. ‘Over the winter nutrients have built up in the sea and the windy weather we have experienced recently has stirred them up to the surface. Combined with the now calmer conditions and bright sunny days everything slotted into place to enable this plant to reproduce and form a large bloom.’ -Daily Mail

Iceland - 800 earthquakes in one day
Activity has now slowed LINK

                       page delimiter

1 Mar 11 - This website reports 800 earthquakes in one day on Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula, while another reports 400 earthquakes in one day.
With all of this seismic activity, they worry that the Krísuvík volcanic system (also spelled Krysuvik) could soon erupt.
It does sound worrisome at first, but when I look at the Iceland Met Office website, I see that activity has slowed dramatically.
I think I'll wait a bit before I go into panic mode. Besides, I don't know what would be considered normal for that part of Iceland.
Thanks to Laurel and Wanda for these links.

Krísuvík volcanic system
"Several eruptions have taken place since the settlement of Iceland, including the eruption of a large lava flow from the Ogmundargigar crater row around the 12th century," says the Smithsonian website. "The latest eruption at Krísuvík took place during the 14th century." (In the year 1188, according to John Search's Volcano Live website.)

Largest earthquake in 35 years hits ArkansasLINK

The central Arkansas town of Greenbrier has been plagued for months by hundreds of small earthquakes, and after being woken up by the largest quake to hit the state in 35 years, residents said Monday they're unsettled by the increasing severity and lack of warning.
The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the quake at 11 p.m. Sunday, centered just northeast of Greenbrier, about 40 miles north of Little Rock. It was the largest of more than 800 quakes to strike the area since September in what is now being called the Guy-Greenbrier earthquake swarm.
The activity has garnered national attention and researchers are studying whether there's a possible connection to the region's natural gas drilling industry. The earthquake activity varies each week, though as many as nearly two dozen small quakes have occurred in a day.
"You don't know what to expect. It's unnerving," said Corinne Tarkington, an employee at a local flower and gift shop. "I woke up last night to the sound of my house shaking."
What woke Tarkington was a magnitude 4.7 earthquake that was also felt in Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee and Mississippi. No injuries or major damage have been reported, but the escalation in the severity of quakes in and around the small north-central Arkansas town has many residents on edge. Some said they're seeing gradual damage to their homes, such as cracks in walls and driveways.
"We probably had 40 to 50 calls last night," Greenbrier police Sgt. Rick Woody said, noting that the tone of the calls had changed. After pervious quakes, most callers simply wanted to find out if a loud noise they'd heard was an earthquake, he said.
"The fear had calmed down until last night," Woody said Monday. "People's biggest concerns (now) are whether or not these earthquakes are going to get any bigger."
Scott Ausbrooks, seismologist for the Arkansas Geological Survey, said Sunday's record quake was at the "max end" of what scientists expect to happen, basing that judgment on this swarm and others in the past. It's possible that a quake ranging from magnitude 5.0 to 5.5 could occur, but anything greater than that is highly unlikely, he said.
Ausbrooks said he plans to hold a town hall meeting in Greenbrier next month to address people's concerns.
"This quake actually scared folks," he said. "It lasted longer than a lot of the others did."
Ausbrooks said scientists continue to study whether there may be a connection between the earthquakes and local injection wells, where the natural gas industry pumps waste water that can no longer be used by drillers for hydraulic fracturing. Fracturing, or "fracking," involves injecting pressurized water to create fractures deep in the ground to help free the gas.
Geologists don't believe the fracturing is the problem, but possibly the injection wells.
A major source of the state's natural gas is the Fayetteville Shale, an organically-rich rock formation in north-central Arkansas. A six-month moratorium was established in January on new injection wells in the area to allow time to study the relationship - if any - between the wells and the earthquakes.
In Greenbrier, many residents are starting to notice gradual damage. Tarkington said her house has started to show cracks in ceilings and walls.
"You can see the wear and tear on our houses," she said. "I wish they'd go away."
Taylor Farrell, 29, a Greenbrier resident and employee at a local flea market, said a large crack formed in her driveway several months ago, and as the earthquakes continue, the crack has spread into her garage.
She said she and her husband had removed everything from the walls of their house, including family photos and television sets, because many photos had fallen in recent quakes.
"Other than that, there's really not much more you can do," she said. "It's Mother Earth. It's going to do what it's going to do. All we can do is wait for the big one and hope and pray it doesn't happen."

Scientists warn of more intense future snowstorms as climate unravels

March 2, 2011JAPAN – Climate change is not only making the planet warmer, it is also making snowstorms stronger and more frequent, US scientists said on Tuesday. “Heavy snowstorms are not inconsistent with a warming planet,” said scientist Jeff Masters, as part of a conference call with reporters and colleagues convened by the Union of Concern Scientists. “In fact, as the Earth gets warmer and more moisture gets absorbed into the atmosphere, we are steadily loading the dice in favor of more extreme storms in all seasons, capable of causing greater impacts on society.” Masters said that the northeastern United States has been coated in heavy snowfall from major Category Three storms or larger three times in each of the past two winters, storms that are unparalleled since the winter of 1960-61. “If the climate continues to warm, we should expect an increase in heavy snow events for a few decades, until the climate grows so warm that we pass the point where it’s too warm for it to snow heavily.” Mark Serreze, director of the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colorado, said less sea ice in the Artic translates to more moisture in the atmosphere, and could also cause an atmospheric circulation pattern in polar regions known as Arctic Oscillation. “It’s still cutting-edge research and there’s no smoking gun, but there’s evidence that with less sea ice, you put a lot of heat from the ocean into the atmosphere, and the circulation of the atmosphere responds to that,” Serreze said.  –Breitbart

NASA to set-up camera network across U.S. to triangulate fireballs

March 2, 2011 – Every day about 100 tons of meteoroids — fragments of dust and gravel and sometimes even big rocks – enter the Earth’s atmosphere. Stand out under the stars for more than a half an hour on a clear night and you’ll likely see a few of the meteors produced by the onslaught. But where does all this stuff come from? Surprisingly, the answer is not well known. Now NASA is deploying a network of smart cameras across the United States to answer the question, What’s Hitting Earth? Did that meteor you saw blazing through the sky last night come from the asteroid belt? Was it created in a comet’s death throes? Or was it a piece of space junk meeting a fiery demise? “When I get to work each morning and power up my computer, there’s an email waiting with answers,” says William Cooke, head of NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office. “And I don’t have to lift a finger, except to click my mouse button.” Groups of smart cameras in the new meteor network triangulate the fireballs’ paths, and special software1 uses the data to compute their orbits and email Cooke his morning message. ”If someone calls me and asks ‘What was that?’ I’ll be able to tell them. We’ll have a record of every big meteoroid that enters the atmosphere over the certain parts of the U.S. Nothing will burn up in those skies without me knowing about it!” In other U.S. meteor networks, someone has to manually look at all the cameras’ data and calculate the orbits – a painstaking process. “With our network, our computers do it for us – and fast,” says Cooke. The network’s first three cameras, each about the size of a gumball machine, are already up and running. Cooke’s team will soon have 15 cameras deployed east of the Mississippi River, with plans to expand nationwide2. Cooke is actively seeking schools, science centers, and planetaria willing to host his cameras. Criteria are listed in the notes at the end of this story. -Physics.org

Sunburn: Solar wind from coronal hole blast planet Earth

March 2, 2011 - MAGNETIC STORM IN PROGRESS: A solar wind stream hit Earth’s magnetic field during the early hours of March 1st. The impact sparked a geomagnetic storm that was, at first, minor, but the storm has been intensifying throughout the day. Spotters are now reporting auroras over Northern Ireland, Scotland, Latvia, Norway, and Sweden. If trends continue, the display could spread to the high latitudes of North America after nightfall. Stay tuned!  -Space Weather
Well, we said this was a nasty hole rotating towards the planet. Solar wind speeds have revved up to 638 km/sec. We’re on the watch for the eruption of flares with this present sunspot cluster. Below the planet magnetosphere is hit with a burn blast from the rabid flow of the solar wind stream.

Food prices to skyrocket, riots could follow, suggests USDA

(NaturalNews) When the upswing in commodity prices eventually makes its way throughout the food system in mid-to-late 2011, food prices are sure to spike with levels potentially reaching those of 2008, announced U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) economist Ephraim Leibtag at the agency's annual Outlook Forum. And if conditions escalate rapidly, there is also the potential for food riots and other civil unrest.

The USDA is predicting a 3.5 percent increase in food prices in 2011, which is about twice the overall inflation rate but less than the 2008 increase, according to a recent Reuters report. In 2008, food prices rose 5.5 percent, which represents the highest increase since 1990. But the possibility of food prices dramatically rising in 2011 like they did in 2008 is a definite possibility.

"Given that it's still earlier in the year, I'm prone to be conservative on the side of the forecast," said Leibtag. "It's a possibility," he added, concerning the likelihood of massive inflation in food costs like was seen in 2008.

Leibtag also explained the agency's expectation of a four percent rise in costs for meats, poultry, and fish; a 3.5 percent increase for fruits and vegetables; a four percent increase for cereals and bakery products; and a three percent increase in sugar and sweets costs. All increases represent anywhere from a 20 to 60 percent increase over last year's increases.

In 2008, food shortages and rapid price increases led to riots in 25 different countries around the world. And the same may happen again, including even in the US, due to factors like the devaluation of the dollar, crop losses, rising oil costs, and other economic factors (http://www.naturalnews.com/031408_f...).

The warning serves as a wake-up call to Americans to take back their land and begin growing more food on the local and regional scale. According to statistics from Farm Aid, a family farming advocacy group, roughly five million US farms have been lost since the 1930s, and about 330 farmers every week leave their land. If this trend continues, the situation will only worsen.

Factory farming operations have essentially replaced local farming throughout the country. And government policies like subsidization of genetically-modified (GM) crops only continues to drive small-scale farmers off their land and exacerbate the problem.

Tremors rumble across north and south islands of New Zealand

March 1, 2011NEW ZEALAND – This 25-tonne boulder bounced down a hill and smashed its way into Phil Johnson’s house in Heathcote. A 4.6-magnitude aftershock shook Christchurch tonight and a similar sized quake has rattled Wellington- the third most populous city in New Zealand. The aftershock struck 10km south of Christchurch and 10km west of Lyttelton at a depth of 5km, GeoNet reported. There were no reports of damage, Radio New Zealand reported. Meanwhile, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake rattled Wellington. The quake struck at 10:07pm, and was centred 20km northwest of Wellington at a depth of 40km, GeoNet reported. The quake was felt strongly as far north as Otaki and as far south as Blenheim. There were no reports of damage, a Fire Service spokeswoman said. –Stuff.NZ
The geology of New Zealand is morphing as it is for many regions of the world. We predict more seismic instability and turbulence in this region of the Pacific.

Easter Island- turbulence in the last leg of the Polynesian triangle

March 1, 2011EASTER ISLAND – Twin earthquakes have shaken the remote Pacific island region of Easter Island. A 5.1 earthquake was followed by a 6.0 which both struck at a depth of about 10 km. Interestingly enough, the disturbances along the far reaches of the Nazca plate on the island were both preceded and followed by quakes in Chile in Tarapaca and Bio Bio. Rapa Nui, or Easter Island is a volcanic hotspot as is Hawaii. The reconstructed geologic features of the remote island and its past volcanic evolution suggest that Easter Island is the expression of an end-member type of hot spot, characterized by low magmatic productivity, immature rift zones and scarce sector collapses, the opposite of what is found in the Hawaiian Islands. Within the so-called Polynesian Triangle which consists of Hawaii, New Zealand and Easter Island which forms the last leg of the triangle along the turbulent Nazca plate (that is currently jarring the coastal region of Chile), there has been a notable increase in seismic activity over the last 30 days. Finally, the latest planetary tremor shows the greatest seismic disturbance in the South Pacific under Kiritimati Island, Republic of Kiribati, Pitcairn Island, South Pacific and along the Nazca Plate which borders South America. We also see an unusual disturbance on the Samuel Brazil station.

Lost Horizon: Magnetic field reversal effects increasing

March 1, 2011  - The Earth’s magnetic field is changing at an increasing rate, throwing off airports and altering the aurora borealis — and its effect on ordinary compasses could mean the difference between homeward bound and hopelessly lost. Earth’s northernmost magnetic point — or magnetic north — is distinct from its geographic North Pole, and scientists have long known that the magnetic poles are on the move. But the magnetic poles have been moving faster lately, sliding towards Siberia at 34 miles per year at a speed that’s accelerated 36 percent over the last 10 years, according to the United States Geological Survey, or USGS. “At Washington D.C., the compass points 10 degrees to the west of true north,” Jeffrey Love, USGS advisor for geomagnetic research, told FoxNews.com. “And this is increasing at Washington at a rate of about 1/10 of a degree per year.” But don’t touch that calibration dial just yet: The accuracy of compasses fluctuates with the field, he said, meaning compasses are more or less accurate depending on where you use them. “It’s different at different places on the earth,” Love said. The magnetic shift is costing the aviation and marine industries millions of dollars to upgrade navigational systems and charts, Florida’s Sun Sentinel reported. –Fox News
“Almost all tectonic movement can be linked to magnetic reversals. Seafloor spreading, sea level changes, mountain growth, earthquakes, and volcanism all seem to speed up whenever the frequency of reversals speeds up.”     -Peter Vogt, U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office

Magma intrusion and swelling under Iceland’s Krýsuvík volcano

February 28, 2011ICELAND - According to news from Rúv. It appears that hydrothermal areas in Krýsuvík volcano are growing larger following the earthquake swarm in the past few days. This same news also tells that the number of cracks in the ground have grown in numbers following the earthquake swarm, this allows more water to get into contact with the hot rock and that warms the water up fast. According to Rúv evening news  there appears to be magma related aspect to this weekend earthquake swarm in Krýsuvík volcano. According to Dr. Páll Einarsson geologist at Iceland University it appears that magma is the source (as stated above) of this weekend earthquake swarm. This news also says that there has been a lot of earthquake activity in Krýsuvík volcano over the past two years and this earthquake activity is not only tectonic as is common in this area. The news at Rúv also says that geologist in Iceland are wondering and unsure what exactly is going on at Krýsuvík volcano at the moment. But the reported inflation in the news at Rúv is sad to be 10 cm (I do not know if that number is accurate or not). But it clearly a reason now to watch the activity at Krýsuvík volcano. If there is a eruption in Krýsuvík volcano it is going to be a harmless (as it can be) lava eruption. Unless it is under water, but then there is a Surtsey type of eruption for as long there is water getting into the crater. So don’t expect aircraft problem if there is a eruption in Krýsuvík volcano.  -Jonfr.com

Given the complex nature of the unique geology under Iceland (it is the only region of the world where a divergent rift runs through an entire land mass), I’ld say this was more than just a case of bad plumbing for the hot water heater.  We’ve monitored at least 300 more quakes on the  Reykjanes Peninsula today (see graph) …so we suggest you stay tuned.

Iceland geologists downplay significance of massive quake swarms

February 28, 2011 - ICELAND - More than 500 earthquakes, most of which were minor, were picked up by the sensors of the Icelandic Meteorological Office by Lake Kleifarvatn in southwest Iceland yesterday and the seismic activity carried on through the night. Of the 500 earthquakes, five were stronger than three points on the Richter scale—the largest, which measured 4.2 points, hit around 5:30 pm. It could easily be felt in towns around the epicenter and also in Reykjavík, Morgunbladid reports. “Our people in Krýsuvík are used to such tremors. The earth has been shaking there on and off through the years. I’ve been in contact with them and there haven’t been any problems because of these earthquakes,” said Lovísa Christiansen, director of the Krýsuvík treatment home, which is located close to the epicenter. Divers Kristján Arnarsson, Pétur Yngi Yamagata and Fridbjörn Orri Ketilsson were diving in Kleifarvatn when the largest earthquake hit. They told mbl.is that they sensed a significant jolt and heard loud rumbles. Activity has been registered by the Meteorological Office’s sensors but earth scientists do not want to make any statements on the movement of magma below the earth’s crust. They point out that earthquakes are common in this area. The series of tremors began on Thursday and peaked yesterday. Approximately 70 minor quakes were picked up in the area around Kleifarvatn since midnight, only two of which were stronger than two points on the Richter scale, ruv.is reports. The seismic activity seems to be subsiding. –Iceland Review

Are Arkansas quakes about to intensify?

February 28, 2011 (Greenbrier, AR) — The US Geological Society confirms as a 4.7 earthquake struck near Greenbrier Sunday night just after 11, followed by a 3.8 aftershock. KOLR/KSFX’s Facebook page was filled with reports from people feeling the quake as far as Ava, West Plains, and Reeds Spring, Missouri, as well as Calico Rock, Mountain View, and Flippin, Arkansas. “The couch I was sitting on felt like it was moving back and forth and the decor on the walls rattled,” says Erica Davis of West Plains. “In Hollister, my floor rumbled like crazy and my monitor was jumping,” says Judy Lockhart. “Strongest I’ve ever felt. That was creepy!” The quake struck in the midst of severe weather. Tornado and thunderstorm warnings were issued across northern Arkansas and southwest Missouri Sunday evening as a cold front moved in. “My pictures on the wall rattled in two different waves about 10 seconds apart, so I shut off the TV thinking I was listening for a tornado,” says Amber Hicks of Nixa. “Pretty neat if you ask me, not so much for the folks in Arkansas!” Shelia Maxwell, the Director of Faulkner County’s Office of Emergency Management, says that there have been no reports of damages associated with the earthquake. “We all got a pretty good shake, but no reports of damage at this time.” –Ozark First
According to the Arkansas Geological Survey, the 4.7 quake was the strongest quake to shake the state of Arkansas in 35 years after more than 800 quakes have shaken the area.

As planet’s population booms, water demand exceeds supply

February 28, 2011CANADA – Water demand in many countries will exceed supply by 40 per cent within 20 years due to the combined threat of climate change and population growth, scientists have warned. A new way of thinking about water is needed as looming shortages threaten communities, agriculture and industry, experts said. In the next two decades, a third of humanity will have only half the water required to meet basic needs, said researchers. Agriculture, which soaks up 71 per cent of water supplies, is also likely to suffer, affecting food production. Filling the global water gap by supply measures alone would cost an estimated £124billion per year, a meeting in Canada was told. But this could be cut to between £31billion and £37billion by an approach which both raised supply and lowered demand, according to leading water economist Dr Margaret Catley-Carlson. The scientists urged conservation measures must be enacted now to stave off what appears to be a looming disaster. –Daily Mail

Devastation in New Zealand quake on par with Haiti

February 28, 2011CHRISTCHURCH, NZ - Luxury homes teeter near the edge of a cliff after landslides in Redcliffs yesterday rendered much of the surrounding terrain unstable outside Christchurch following the quake. The scale of devastation in quake-hit Christchurch is comparable with the destruction wreaked in the 2010 Haiti earthquake, New Zealand’s former premier Helen Clark said Monday, as rescuers prepared for the final death toll to rise above 200. The stark assessment came with much of the city lying in ruins after last Tuesday’s 6.3-magnitude quake caused widespread death and destruction, toppling buildings and tearing up roads. “The building damage I’ve seen compared with Haiti,” Clark, who now heads the United Nations Development Program, told Radio New Zealand Monday, referring to the massive quake which killed at least 220,000 in the Caribbean island in January last year. Let there be no mistake, New Zealand has suffered a tragedy of monumental proportions and it’s going to require every ounce of recovery in this country to push through from this,” she added. The death toll in Christchurch reached 147 late Sunday but police fear more than 50 still listed as “unaccounted for” lie dead in the rubble. Asked if he expected a final toll of 200, district commander Dave Cliff relied: “Yes, and probably a little higher than that ultimately.” -Terra Daily

Rare ‘freak’ hailstorm causes dismay and panic in Lahore Pakistan

February 27, 2011LAHORE, PAKISTAN – The storm struck the city at 4.45pm, concentrating its intensity downtown and in areas around Gulberg. Hailstones the size of small strawberries soon carpeted streets and rooftops. People watched the freak turn of weather with a pleasant surprise. At some places some people panicked and started giving “azans.” A traffic gridlock followed the hailstorm, making driving a misery on roads awash with a hail of stones. But on the other hand, motorists were seen relishing the happening instead of fuming over the traffic jam and the young made the most of the opportunity by playing with hailstones. Mobile phones were taken out to take still pictures and make movies of the falling hailstones. Reports from different parts of the city indicated the storm was partial as many localities like Faisal Town merely received a light shower. Temperature dropped significantly after the storm. The Met office did not record the hailstorm, but said that it was rare. “The plains of Punjab do receive hailstones in this part of winter because of differences in ground and air temperature. But this one was rare,” a meteorologist remarked. The Met office said rain and hailstorm had been caused by a westerly system affecting the northern areas. Another westerly would bring rain over the plains and snowfall over the hills from Monday, it said. -Dawn

Libya unrest: US repositioning military forces in region ~ link ~The global banking cartel and Israel are keen to get their 'Domino Revolutions' fully back on track.  That means nutty Gaddafi has to go and go soon.  Stirling

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said US forces could be used for delivering humanitarian assistance. But correspondents say another option would be to enforce a no-fly zone over Libya, to prevent Colonel Gaddafi's aircraft attacking opposition supporters. "We have planners working various contingency plans, and I think it's safe to say as part of that we're repositioning forces to provide for that flexibility once decisions are made," Pentagon spokesman Col Dave Lapan said.

The BBC's Andrew North, in Washington, says that it is still not clear if there will be sufficient support at the United Nations security council for a no-fly zone, but Washington and several of its key allies say they are now actively discussing the possibility.

The price of food is at the heart of the wave of revolutions ~ link ~ In 2008 the global banking cartel, using Wall Street hedge funds and other means, was able to artificially create a limited global food shortage, which resulted in rioting in many places.  That was the 'beta test'.  They, being the most experienced organization in the world in fomenting revolutions (going all the way back to the French Revolution that overthrew King Louis XVI), know that it takes a lot to get the masses off their collective butts and into the streets.  However, nothing is as effective as the fear of starvation with rapidly rising food prices and a population that simply cannot afford any price increases.  This was a key factor in the French Revolution.

They created the BP Deepwater Oil Disaster (they knew as far back as the 1950s that drilling into the side of the salt dome there was totally insane) with the knowledge that a truly massive amount of oil would disrupt the Loop Current in the Gulf of Mexico.  They had to use a enormous amount of dispersants to keep most of it in place, below the surface, and did so.  The expected result worked.

The death of the Loop Current had a profound effect on the Thermohaline Circulation System and that effect also impacted the Jet Stream and caused the current global climate crisis/changes, which has seriously degraded the total global food supply.  This, plus the now perfected hedge fund based food speculation, allows them to 'turn on' a real global food crisis.

They have also, again going back to 2008 (link to story about the Alliance for Youth Movements), organized Internet based social networking technology to serve as a useful tool to organize and control a spreading 'Domino Revolutions' in the Arab world.

This series of revolutions, in turn, has several 'benefits' to the global banking families.  They have used this to raise the price of crude oil, further causing food price increases and economic chaos, as well as increasing their already totally insane cosmic level of income.  Further, it helps to prepare the Middle East for the coming Regional War involving Israel/US/NATO and Iran/Syria/Lebanon/etc., which is designed to form the beginning of the Third World War.  Further, they intend to spread economic chaos and rioting/revolution globally (witness the created crisis over collective bargaining rights in Wisconsin/etc. supposedly linked to budget shortfalls in US states; and the riots resulting from European Austerity Fascism).

Their Grand Strategy is to use economic/political/military chaos to introduce their long-sought satanic high-tech global police state/New World Order with a dramatically reduced global population level.

However, even this picture does not explain things, as the global usage of 21st Century weapons of mass destruction will effectively destroy the world that they intend to rule over.  They, being satanic to the core, are being deluded by their true master Satan, who knows his time to influence this planet is almost up.  He is using his minions to attempt to destroy the human race (and give him his greatest 'blood orgy' in human history from Armageddon).

Fortunately, Christians have been warned of these events in the last book of the Bible, and know how things well turn out, with the Return of Christ and a New Earth/New Heaven/New Jerusalem and 1,000 years of peace under God.   Stirling
